"Crossing the Next Decade of VUCA Wisdom" 2020 China Tour of Excellent Operation (Wuxi railway station) was successfully concluded

On July 25th, hosted by the Jiangsu Representative Office of the International Association for Excellence in Operations (Singapore), and organized by Jiepu Electronics (Wuxi) Co., Ltd., Wuxi Vocational College of Science and Technology, and Suzhou Zhiyuan Yi Management Consulting Co., Ltd., the 2020 Excellence in Operations Tour in China was held ٠ Wuxi railway station was successfully held in Wuxi University of Science and Technology.

This activity focused on the topic of "Going through VUCA (variability, uncertainty, complexity, fuzziness) to win the next decade". First, four celebrities from GCL Cloud Storage, Honeywell SPS, Decathlon Suzhou Factory, and Jabil Electronics Wuxi shared thought-provoking dry goods. Then, the guests held a round table dialogue: the growth momentum in the VUCA environment, Together with representatives of Xicheng enterprises participating in the day's event, we created a feast of ideas!



Launch, Activity Introduction

     

Let's review this activity together. First of all, Mr. Zhu Haifeng, the Secretary General of the Association from Nanjing and the host of the event, introduced the guests and recalled that in the first half of the year, the Association had held a series of online activities against the background of the epidemic, but under the condition that the COVID-19 epidemic was slowing down, Wuxi would be the key city for the Association to hold offline activities.

Subsequently, Mr. Yang Zhou, Chairman of the Association and President of Zhiyuan Yi Consulting, delivered a speech. Mr. Yang Zhou introduced the development history of the association and reviewed the ten years of holding various public welfare activities, lakeside salons, online exchanges, etc. in various complex environments. While innovating and iterating in technology, empowering enterprises to become innovators and promoters of excellent operational methods and technologies has always been the vision of the association. He emphasized that although online interaction is convenient, offline face-to-face communication is more warm, In addition to public lectures, the association will also continue to hold benchmarking studies and a series of forum lecture activities for enterprises, and welcome everyone to participate.

Ten Year Practice Sharing of GCL Slicing Intelligent Factory

     

The first guest to share on stage is Mr. Liu Jianping, CEO of GCL Cloud Storage. The theme shared by Mr. Liu is: Ten Years of Practice of GCL Slicing Intelligent Factory.

Mr. Liu first reviewed his career, and his journey from state-owned enterprises to foreign enterprises and then to private enterprises was very rich. He summarized that the principle of success is to gather the private interests of everyone and become a public family. Simply put, it is an incentive system that "can divide money, will divide money".

Then elaborate from three perspectives:

1、 What to do?

This is the issue of strategic determination for enterprises. Mr. Liu cites Wang Yangming, a philosopher of the Ming Dynasty who epitomized the theory of mind, as saying that "without determination, there is nothing that can be achieved in the world." He emphasizes that the first priority of excellent operation for enterprises is to do the right thing that is in line with the trend of the times. Specifically, in the manufacturing industry, it is to persistently carry out the strategic structure well.

2、 Why to do?

On this point, Mr. Liu emphasized that continuous improvement and technological innovation are the foundation of continuous improvement to continuously reduce operating costs and increase corporate profits, and emphasized that profit sharing and meeting employee wishes are the foundation of continuous improvement. Mr. Liu interpreted the rich connotation of "simple transformation, ultra-low cost" by reviewing the cases of GCL's continuous growth from scratch and the mature and perfect technology system of interconnected factories, providing valuable experience for manufacturing colleagues.

3、 How to do?

This is the issue of methodology, and Mr. Liu mainly emphasizes the introduction of external consultants and a complete incentive system. The advantage of introducing external consultants is to break the internal calm of the enterprise and bring vitality to development, and to vividly express how to drive and promote the positive energy efficiency cycle between the consulting company and the factory through the physical concept of "entropy increase and entropy decrease" commonly used by Huawei. Secondly, enterprises cannot overly rely on the self-awareness of their employees. Great dreams often depend on a small application. Mr. Liu introduced GCL's refined evaluation and training system, allowing employees to participate in project improvement and obtain high scores, mobilize enthusiasm, and then get promoted.

Finally, Mr. Liu encouraged everyone with the eight character motto of "Embrace your dreams, focus on your feet"!




Honeywell Operations System HOS Sharing

     

The second guest to share on stage is Mr. Tu Yun, General Manager of Honeywell SPS China. The theme shared by Mr. Tu is: Honeywell Operations System HOS Sharing.

Mr. Tu said that through the construction of the HOS operation system, Honeywell's performance is "much better than its competitors." Subsequently, he introduced the growth path of Honeywell's Suzhou factory in simple terms to help guests have a more intuitive understanding of the excellent performance operation of HOS.

The first thing to emphasize is Honeywell's cultural characteristics, that is, in the context of globalization, the integration of Eastern and Western cultures, and the creation of outstanding operations under unique Chinese culture, making Honeywell Suzhou factory a global model and with subsequent promotion.

Mr. Tu explained from four perspectives how to move towards excellence:

1、 Leadership promotion emphasizes that it is easier to work from top to bottom in the context of Chinese culture.

2、 Employee participation, first universal participation, then emphasis on quality, and progressive progress

3、 Create a positive and relaxed "American style culture" atmosphere, such as encouraging smiles and conducting book club activities.

4、 Empowering and helping employees continuously learn and improve to achieve self actualization goals.

Through the accumulation of distinctive corporate culture, Honeywell Suzhou has ultimately become a model of smart factories. At the end of the sharing, Mr. Tu also recommended the book "Everything is the Best Arrangement" by the Living Buddha of Jiacuo, encouraging everyone to grasp the scale, control risks, and move forward calmly in the context of the epidemic and Sino US frictions.

Decathlon Digital transformation Practice

     

The third guest who came to the stage to share was Mr. Zhang Beijing, the director of Decathlon's Suzhou factory. The theme he shared was: Decathlon's Digital transformation practice.

Director Zhang first introduced the development process of Decathlon in China and the values of enterprise vitality and social responsibility. With the joint efforts of more than 90000 professional team partners who are passionate about sports, Decathlon has also developed a distinctive path in China. As a model factory, Suzhou Factory is also constantly exploring Digital transformation. Different from the grand concept of Industry 4.0 digitization, Decathlon, as a fast moving consumer, The Suzhou factory is more concerned about how to make ordinary employees contribute to digitization and leave some imprints in the digital wave.

Subsequently, Factory Director Zhang shared several practical examples, such as the Customization (MOM) system, the evolution of TOP30 meetings (from whiteboard to paperless and then to V3.0), the more youthful and personalized DIGITAL GEMBA WALK, and encouraging employees to participate in the development of customized apps for item referencing. Finally, Factory Director Zhang used Jack Welch's words to encourage everyone to "Change before you have to".

Sharing of Jabil Electronics' Excellent Operations System

     

The last guest to share on stage is Mr. Shu Peng, the general manager of Jabil Electronics (Wuxi). The theme shared by Mr. Shu is: Jabil Electronics' Excellent Operation System Sharing.

Mr. Shu first introduced the history of JABEL and the overview of the Wuxi factory. Jabil adheres to the cultural tradition of "people-oriented, committed to customers, and delivering excellence", has won the honor of being the best employer in Wuxi, and is one of the first factories to truly apply 5G technology to production practice. Mr. Shu has unique insights into intelligent factories: only refined data is valuable, adding value to machines and processes and generating lighthouse projects. He first solves labor-intensive problems with technology, such as labeling and packaging, and promotes best practices to empower local manufacturing.

Subsequently, Mr. Shu introduced Jabil Wuxi's strong development team from four dimensions: blueprint, design, hardware, and software. Regarding the application of 5G, Mr. Shu emphasized the idea of using 5G technology to produce 5G products and using high-tech means to solve the most basic problems. Finally, everyone watched the video of "5G Application in Jabil Wuxi Factory" played by Mr. Shu, providing a more intuitive experience of technology creating the future and working together to change the current situation of the manufacturing industry.




Round Table Dialogue: Growth Kinetics in the VUCA Environment

     

The final part of the activity is a round table dialogue segment, with the main topic being "Growth momentum in the VUCA environment".

Mr. Wang, who comes from modern logistics in state-owned enterprises, mentioned that state-owned enterprises should standardize, change personnel and processes, and move towards marketization.

Mr. Zhang, from a French funded enterprise, proposed that in the VUCA environment, it is not only a change in the social era, but also a deep-seated change in human psychology. It is crucial for enterprises to adapt to the dual changes of social and human psychological factors and seize opportunities.

Mr. Shu, a US funded entrepreneur, humorously starts with Chairman Mao's statement that "to carry out the revolution, one relies on the line and the other on cadres", emphasizing that the growth momentum of enterprises is fundamentally the reserve and cultivation of talents.

President Liu and President Shu from private enterprises share the same view. He said that we have many routine tools, but basically we need to create a set of methods to stimulate employees' enthusiasm, not only material incentives but also the ability to develop incentives. Finally, we can use everyone's selfishness to meet the public heart of the enterprise and form a strong centripetal force force.
